Cash Crops

Oilseeds are important

cash crops. Different

oilseeds are grown in India

like- mustard, seasame,

peanut, coconut and

sunflower. Oil is extracted

from the crushed seeds of

these cash crops.

India is the largest producer

of sugarcane in the world.

It is grown in Uttar Pradesh,

Maharashtra, Bihar, Tamil

Nadu, Punjab and Haryana.

Sugarcane is used to

produce sugar and jaggery.

Jute is grown in states like-

West Bengal, Assam, Bihar

and Odisha. It is used to

make bags and carpets.

West Bengal is the largest

producer of jute.

Cotton is also an important

cash crop. It is used for

various purposes like- for

making clothes, cotton

rolls and various other
