Renewable Resources
Renewable resources are those which can be replenished over time by some
natural process. These resources have the ability to be renewed over a short period of time.
Sunlight, air, water, soil, forests, plants and animals are some good examples of renewable
resources. Let’s read to explore more about them.
Biomass Sugarcane is used for
biomass energy
Biomass is one of the most plentiful and well-utilised sources of
renewable energy in the world. It includes wood and wood wastes,
agricultural crops and their waste byproducts, municipal solid waste,
animal wastes, waste from food processing and aquatic plants and algae.
Biomass is used to meet a variety of energy needs, including generating
electricity, heating homes, fueling vehicles and providing process heat for
industrial facilities.
Water
Water is very important for our lives. We need water to drink, to wash
our hands, to cook, to water plants and many other things. Water is
found in many forms like- rain and water bodies. We also need water
to produce electricity. Hydroelectric power plants are used to produce
electricity and have the ability to transmit electricity over longer
distances.
Wind A two-flow Turbine Rotor
Wind is just the flow of a huge amount of air created as the sun
heats the Earth's surface. As long as the sun is shining, the wind
remains an infinite, renewable resource. Wind power is clean
energy because wind turbines do not produce any emissions.
These turbines are used to turn wind into electricity.
Solar
Solar energy is, simply, energy provided by the sun. Plants need this
energy to produce food for themselves through the process of
photosynthesis. Solar energy can be used in remote areas where it is
too expensive to extend the electricity power grid.
