West Bengal is the fourth-most populous
state of India. It lies in the eastern coastal
plains. They are very fertile as it is the delta of
River Ganga. Rice and jute grow in abundance
in this region. There are many jute and textile
mills in this region.
Odisha
Odisha is watered by River Mahanadi. It is a very
fertile state. Hirakund Dam is built in this state on
River Mahanadi. The coastal region of this state
are by major cyclones every year.
River Mahanadi Visakhapatnam
Andhra Pradesh
The coastal plains of Andhra Pradesh are located
on the eastern side. It is watered by the Rivers
Krishna and Godavari. The important port of
India, Visakhapatnam, is located in this state. It
is also famous for its ship building yards.
Tamil Nadu
River Kaveri Tamil Nadu has a long coastline along the
eastern coast of India. The coast of Tamil
Nadu is known as the Coromandel Coast.
River Kaveri makes this region fertile.
Chennai is the capital of this state.
Chennai is also an important port of India.
