Carnivores
Carnivores are animals that eat flesh of other animals. Tiger,
lion and wolf are good examples of carnivores. They have
sharp canines to tear the flesh. Carnivores have strong
molars to chew the bones.
Omnivores Tiger is carnivorous
Crow is omnivorous Omnivores are animals which eat both plants and flesh of
other animals. Crow, bear, rhino, hedgehog, monkey etc.
are omnivores. Omnivorous animals have well developed
incisors and molars. Which and molars help them to eat
hard as well as soft food.
Why Animals Move
Animals need to move around to find food for themselves. Animals also move about
to protect themselves from their enemies. They also move about to look for shelter or
to breed. Different animals use different organs to move.
Mammals
Most of the mammals have four limbs. They have
two limbs in the front called forelimbs and two
other at the back called hindlimbs. Horse, cow, dog,
etc., use all the four limbs to move. Human beings
use only the hindlimbs (legs) to walk. They stand
erect with the hindlimbs on the ground.
Aquatic Animals Cow limbs
Fish use three types of fins for swimming. The paired
fins help them to move forward. The unpaired fins help
the fish to keep their balance. The tail fins help in
changing direction. Frogs use webbed feet to swim.
With their strong hind legs they jump on land. Turtles
use their four paddle-like flippers to swim in water.
