Airways

Air transportation is one of the most important Air transport
transport systems of the worlds. They are an important
part of modern travel both domestically and
internationally. Air transportation saves a lot of time. It
takes a few hours, which may be days by other modes of
transport. However this being a major advantage, air
transport also has various disadvantages like:
 It is costly.
 It is limited by ‘lift capacity’ i.e. goods up to certain

weight can be transported.

Cost of air freight is very high due to fuel,
maintenance and labour intensity of both
in flight and ground crew.
Even though it has some disadvantages
but still it is preferred by people. This is
because of its high speed that saves a lot
of time of busy people.
No particular commodity dominates the
freight carried by air transport.
For example:. big courier companies such
as - DHL, Fed Ex. have their own aircrafts to
transport couriers between different
countries within a short time.
This also reduces the chances of damage
that can be caused to the goods while
transporting them through other means
for a long time.
