    Let’s Start Learning

Our teeth and digestive system are the two major parts of our body. Without our
teeth we cannot chew our food, hence it will not digest and can cause pain and other
problems in our stomach. Now, come and let's read about them and their functions.

Teeth

Our teeth are found in our mouth.

Teeth composed of calcium,

phosphorus and other minerals.

When we are babies, we don’t have

teeth. Teeth start growing when we

are about six months old.

Most kids have their first set of teeth

by the time they are 3 years old. These

are called the milk or baby teeth.

There are 20 milk teeth in a baby’s

mouth. When a child is about 5 or 6

years old, milk teeth start falling out, Permanent Teeth

one by one. Slowly, the permanent

teeth grow in and take the place of the milk teeth. By the age of 12 or 13, most children

have lost all of their baby teeth and have a set of permanent teeth.

For the Teacher Draw the diagram of teeth on the blackboard and show the various

types to the children. Also explain the digestive system. Encourage them to take care of teeth.
