Let’s Start Learning
Matter is all around us. Matter is the air you are breathing. Matter is the book you are
reading from now. Matter is the stuff you touch and see. And it is more. Come, let's
read further to know about the states of matter.
States of Matter
Matter is defined as anything that has mass and takes up space. Matter is found in 3
major states:-
Liquids
Solids
Gas
Things like juice, water and milk are liquids. Table, books, stones and clothes are
solids. Air and steam are gases.
Let’s read about the states in detail.
Solids Molecules Books Stones
of solid
Matter that is composed of atoms packed
tightly together is known as solids.
Solids are easy to control.
Solids can be shaped and cut up.
Anything you can grab or hold is a solid.
The shape and volume of a solid will not
change (unless you break a bit off).
For the Teacher Explain the different states of matter to the students with the help of
examples. Also tell them about the change in states of matter.
