Chapter 13 the neighbourhood

Nargis asked Mr. Akbar, her father, “Abbu are we there?”

“No dear, not yet. Look at the map on the invita on card. Can you see any landmarks?''
her father asked.
“No I can't,'' answered Nargis.

Nargis and her parents were on their way to her friend Fa ma's anniversary party. As
they had come to Pune just a few months ago, they did not know their way around.
Sarah had drawn a map of the route to her house. She had also added landmarks for
them to follow.

Shabana, Nargis's mother, looked at the map drawn on the card and told them that
Fa ma's house was near the Krishna temple on a lane. They were on the Park Avenue.

The map showed the lane with the temple, turning Park Avenue
le on Park Avenue. It also showed a big coconut
tree at the entrance of the lane. Nargis leaned out
of the window. “Abbu, I can see the coconut tree.
Slow down. We have to turn le .”

In another five minutes they were at Fa ma's house. Nargis and her parents joined
the guests on the lawn, and started looking for the girl.

A er the party, Fa ma showed Nargis around her house. There was a beau ful flower
garden at the back. There were a few tall trees in the front. Fa ma explained that the
front of the house was mostly in shade but the grounds at the back were always full of
sunlight. So the flowers bloomed well there.
