Different crops are grown in different seasons. Kharif crops
The crops grown in winter season are called
Rabi crops, e.g. , wheat, gram, peas, mustard,
etc. The crops grown in summer season are
called Kharif crops, e.g., paddy, maize,
soyabean, cotton, etc.
Different crops grows in different soils. Rice and
Jute grow well in clay soil, while cotton grows
well in black soil.
Increasing Food Production
We should grow better and healthy crops to increase food production. Here are some tips for
healthy food production.
• Healthy seeds of the best variety should be used.
• The soil should be ploughed and fertilize well in order to get good crop.
• Weeds and pests should be regularly removed.
• The harvested crop must be stored properly.
