Nutrients are the supply of food required by our body. Deficiency of the nutrients in
our body can cause some diseases. Let's know about these nutrients and diseases
caused by the deficiency of the nutrients.
Essential Nutrients
When we feel hungry, we eat food. Food gives us energy to do all our work. It also
helps us to repair the damaged cells to grow and reproduce.
The substances in the food which help us to remain healthy are known as nutrients.
However, all the food do not contain the same nutrients. Different food is enriched
with different nutrients. The essential nutrients we need include carbohydrates,
proteins and lipids (fats), as well as fiber, vitamins, and minerals.
Only nutrients are not enough to keep us healthy. We also need exercise and rest,
fresh air and lots of water to stay healthy.
Nutrients Needed by Our Body
Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates play an important role in promoting our
health. They are the most common food nutrient found.
Carbs give us energy. They are rich in sugar and starch. The
rich sources of carbs are sugar, potatoes, rice etc. J
