Plants in Mountains
Plants of the mountainous region are usually tall and cone shaped. The cone shape
enables the snow to slide down from the tree on the ground. They have needle-like
leaves. The trees don’t have flowers instead they have cones. The cones contain
seeds. For example, pine, cedar and spruce have cones. Plants like almond, walnut,
etc. grow in hilly areas. They have round crowns which shed leaves in winters.

Plants in Deserts
Plants which need less water can grow in the desert region, for example, cactus, acacia
and date palm. These plants have well developed features that help them to survive
with less water. Some plants have less leaves or no leaves. The process of photosynthesis
is carried out in the stems and not in the leaves. These plants store the water in the stem.
Some plants also have thorns which help them to conserve water.
