Thar - The Great Indian Desert

Thar Desert is also known as the Great
Indian Desert. It is a large, arid region in
the northwestern part of the Indian
subcontinent. Thar Desert is located in
Western India and South Eastern Pakistan.
The landforms of Thar Desert are divided
into three major regions - Sand Covered
Thar, Plains and Hills. Thar Desert covers
most of the western part of Rajasthan.
Hence, it is also known as the Western
Desert. Land of this region is sandy and
rocky. Climate of this region is very hot and
receives very little rainfall.
