feeling
Chapter 3 around with eyes shut
We get to know the world around us through our sense organs. Our nose give us the
sense that the rose has sweet smell, our skin tells us to touch it carefully as it is
surrounded by prickly thorns and the tongue tells us that the rose petals can be eaten
too and our ears tell us that the bees are buzzing for the rose's nectar, we be er stay
away!
Sense of touch
The sense of touch or to feel
something is provided by our skin.
While the four sense organs are
located at different parts of the
body, the sense of touch is located
all over the body. The bo om of
layer of the skin provides us with the
sense of touch. The bo om layer of
the skin is filled with ny nerve endings and gives informa on about the things with
which our body comes in contact. The nerves carry the messages to the brain and
finally the brain tells us if the object is safe to touch.
Did you know?
Some of our body parts are more sensi ve than the other because they have more
nerve endings. The sides of our tongue have a number of nerve endings that are very
sensi ve to pain. Our finger ps are also very sensi ve. So, people who are blind can
use their finger ps to read Braille.
Do you know which are the most sensi ve areas of your hands, lips, face, neck,
tongue, finger ps and feet.
The least sensi ve area is the middle of your back.
