Properties of Air
Keeping the Air Clean
Let’s Start Learning
We cannot see, touch, smell or taste the air. Air is all around us. We can only
feel it. All the living things need air to breathe and survive.
What Does Air Contain?
Air is the mixture of gases. It contains water vapours and dust particles.
Come and let's perform some activities to understand the concept of air.
Activity 1
Take a dry cloth and then dip it in
water. Now take this wet cloth and
spread it in the sunlight. Observe
the cloth after sometime. You will
see that the cloth is no more wet. It
is dry. Wonder, how it became dry?
This happens because the heat of
the sun changes the water present
in the cloth to water vapours.
These water vapours mix with the air and makes the clothes dry. This
shows that air contains water vapours.
For the Teacher Explain the students about the importance of air in our lives. Also tell them
various uses of air.
