Woodpeckers are instantly recognizable by their unique
behavior of pecking ver cally on trees and poles,
Woodpecker eat insect too, but these birds don't catch
insect in the air. They prefer to drill holes into trees and use
their extremely long tongue to get the insects out. Because
woodpeckers are always hi ng their heads against a tree,
they require a skull and a beak that are really strong. The
bill is shaped like a chisel.
Sparrow is a species of birds that can be easily recognized
because it lives very close to humans. Sparrows and pigeons have short, thick and
cone-shaped beaks, which help them to crack open seeds and nuts.
Hummingbirds are new world birds that cons tute
the family Trochilidae. They are among the smallest
of birds weighing less than a penny.
They are known as hummingbirds because of the
humming sound created by their bea ng wings
which flap at high frequencies audible to humans.
Hummingbirds feed on flower nectar and are a racted to red, tube-shaped flowers.
Therefore, they need a beak that, they can fit into those flowers. Their beaks are long
and slender and work like straws to suck nectar out of flowers.
Pelicans are a genus of large water birds. Pelicans and
Kingfishers have a spear-shaped beak. It is used to
catch fish. A crow has a mul -purpose beak. It is
shaped like a Swiss army knife. It helps the crow to eat
fruits, seeds, insects, fish and other food items.
