Do you have any friend who studies in a boarding school?
All students eat together in large groups in the mess at the boarding school. All the
students sit together and eat the same food. They have fixed mings for different
meals and are provided with wholesome food. The hostel warden sees to it that all the
students are ea ng properly.

Some mes, students who do not stay in hostels also need to eat in the school. They
eat in the school canteens.

There are many children who cannot afford to bring healthy food to school.

In order to help the needy children, the Government has launched a mid-day meal
scheme in various schools all over India. The mid-day meal scheme is a programme of
the Government of India designed to improve he nutri onal status of school-age
children na onwide. The programme supplies free lunches on working days for
children in primary and upper primary classes. Children are provided a wholesome
meal that is required for proper growth and nourishment, free of cost.

The programme encourages them to come to school and provides them with
nourishing food which they may not otherwise get.
