Chapter 4 Festivals

A day of celebra on is called a fes val. Fes vals are me for
celebra on and fun. We celebrate fes vals with our family and friends.

India is a land of many cultures and religions. Therefore, there are
many different fes vals that are celebrated in India every year. Some
of these fes vals are —

Holi
Holi is a fes val of colours. Holi is celebrated
by Hindus. People throw gulals (coloured
powder) at each other and some people
even throw water at each other. People
alsoexchange'gujiyas'(sweet).

Diwali
Diwali is also a fes val of Hindus. It
is the fes val of lights. People
decorate their homes with diyas.
They exchange gi s and sweets
and wear new clothes.

Eid
Eid is one of the most important
fes val of Muslims. Eid comes
a er thirty days of fas ng in the
holy month of 'Ramzan'.
